People Tree partners with artisans and Fair Trade farmers in developing areas to create ethical and sustainable fashion for women. They are well respected in the responsible fashion space.

What makes them sustainable?

What makes People Tree sustainable is their dedication and responsibility to protect all of their workers while using organic materials that are not harmful for the environment.

Do they have ethical policies in place?

Yes! People Tree is very ethical, their organic cotton is Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) or Fair Trade Certified and derived from eco-friendly farmers. They are a member of the WFTO Guarantee System which ensures a living and fair wage for all employees. They use some wool from small responsible farmers, and they have a PETA vegan approved clothing line!

Is their shipping carbon neutral or sustainable?

There is no evidence of carbon off-setting or carbon-neutral shipping. Although they do ship via sea-freight in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint.

Is their packaging sustainable or recyclable?

They sea-freight the majority of their products, so they have to pack them in plastic to protect them from moisture damage in transit. The plastic they use is made from polypropylene and is actually recyclable and biodegradable! They also ship the product to you in a recyclable brown bag.
